Easy QR Code privacy policy
Easy QR Code reads QR codes in your web browser. This policy covers the website.
Camera
The site uses the camera only after you choose Start camera and your browser grants permission. Frames stay in browser memory long enough to look for a QR code. They are not saved and not sent to a server. Stop camera, or leaving the tab, releases the camera.
Photos
Images you open, drop, or paste are decoded in your browser. They are not uploaded. Save links downloads a text
file to your device. Wi-Fi passwords and authenticator (otpauth) secrets are left out of that file.
Recent scans
A list of up to 50 recent scans is kept in your browser's local storage on this device. Wi-Fi passwords,
authenticator secrets, URL passwords, and secret-looking URL parameters such as token are removed
before the list is saved. Clear deletes the list. Clearing your browser's site data also deletes it.
Account
You do not need an account to scan. You can sign in with Google or Apple so that your $0.99 unlock works on every device. When you sign in, the site receives an account ID from Google or Apple, your email address, and your name if you share it. With Apple you can hide your email address.
This information is kept in a signed cookie in your browser for 30 days. The cookie is not readable by page scripts. Sign out deletes it. The site does not keep its own database of accounts.
Purchase
Reading many photos at once, right-click open, and Save links are a one-time purchase of $0.99. There is no subscription. Stripe processes the payment on its own checkout page. This site does not see your card number. Stripe's privacy policy covers the data you enter there.
When you buy, the site creates a Stripe customer record with your account ID, email address, and name. The site uses that record to find your purchase when you sign in on another device. To delete that record, contact us through the address on the Stripe receipt.
Advertising
This site shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this site and to other sites on the internet.
- You can turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings.
- You can learn more, and opt out of some third-party vendors, at aboutads.info.
- See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown. Scan contents, camera frames, and photos are never given to the ad service.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel can log standard request data, such as IP address and browser type, to operate and protect the service.
Opening links
If you choose Open on a web, email, phone, or map result, the site asks you to confirm first. Your browser then opens that link in a new tab or in the app you already use.
